When it is about choosing the right type of equipment, you should only go for the best. API Gages are something which is a basic need for oil and gas industries. Gages are mostly needed to fix up the ground limit gagging for both plug and ring thread gages. You need to customize your own thread gages in order to meet your exact specifications if only you have some specific need otherwise, you can also try your hands in API thread gages. API (American Petroleum Institute) has a lot to offer so that you can get your type of gages easily and there are a few types they offer.

The types are:

  • Thread Gages.
  • Working Gages.
  • Reference Master Gages.
  • Regional Master Gages.
  • Ground Master Gages.

Along with the types, you will get a lot of variations while choosing any particular gages among them. API thread gages are made with the latest technology and inspection available just to meet everyone’s different needs. Gage products are mainly used for.

  • Casing.
  • Line pipe.
  • Rotary connections.
  • Sucker rods.
  • Tapered gages.
  • Tubing.
  • Thread profile.

You need to know a few important things about the gage’s cleaning and inspection.

  • API gage calibration is used for confirming the pitch diameters and streamlining. At the time of calibrating an API gage, the pitch size should always match accommodating ring gages so that you can get clean and complementing calibrated and clean set plugs.
  • Your cleaned surface will provide you with the non-nicked surface, tolerant to applied pressure, correct tapering and proper lubrication.
  • You should maintain regular inspection of your embedded fillings, nicks and burrs before calibration occurs. If the inspector tells you about any sort of impurities, you must ask him to remove that immediately and seal with wax.
  • You should check if the gage is prepared through turning its locking screw in a counter-clockwise direction and it should be loosened completely. Once you realized the adjusting screw has been turned completely, you can turn the ring gage as well and push back its settings plug. It will help the gage to get a long lifespan.

API thread gages are designed for inspection of oil and gas-related products such as required by the API product specifications 5Ct, 5b, 5DP, 5L, 6A, 11B and many others. You will get a calibration certificate with each of these products along with API monogram license support and resources and this is undoubtedly a must-have for the oil industry.
